EVERYDAY DOXOLOGISTS: SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS
Please pray for members of City Church who own and/or work for small businesses. Please pray that they would set and maintain high standards for their business values; seek the Lord’s wisdom in making difficult business decisions; desire to love and serve their colleagues and supervisors; and live holy lives that would reflect Christ to others.
LOCAL MISSIONS: NEW CREATION PRESBYTERIAN
New Creation Presbyterian Church is a PCA church plant forming in Chester with Joel Passmore serving as the church planting pastor. Please pray for Joel and his wife, Nikki as they seek to increase relational connections with the people in Chester, particularly those who are new to the area. Please also pray that God provide a location for worship and all the resources needed for a sustainable launch of Sunday services, including strong newcomer engagement. Finally, pray that God help Joel maintain the necessary balance between the work of pastoring and time with family.
GLOBAL MISSIONS: BEN AND KIM CHURCH
Ben and Kim Church have been serving in Kampala, Uganda through Mission to the World since 2013. They began planting Christ Our Refuge Church in southern Kampala in late 2017, and the congregation began public worship at the end of 2018. Ben, Kim, and their kids spent 2021 in the US raising funds, and returned to Kampala in March of this year. Ben and Kim ask for prayer for Christ Our Refuge—that it would continue to serve its surrounding community with the mercy of Christ through its words and deeds. Please pray for the church’s 11 new members—that they would grow in their faith as a result of committing to membership, and that the Spirit would grant unity and fellowship to the congregation as a whole. Additionally, Ben and Kim ask for prayer for their family as they get back into the rhythm of home-schooling and ministry now that they’ve returned to Kampala. Please also pray for wisdom and discernment for Ben and Kim as they respond to the many needs of those in their community.
MERCY & JUSTICE: CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE
May is Foster Care Awareness month. With that in mind please pray for the children in our community currently in the foster care system. Pray for their hearts and spirits as they navigate the trauma and uncertainty that so often comes with being in foster care. Pray that the foster care system serves their best interests, providing them with the comprehensive care and support every child should have. We also invite you to pray for our Ministry Partner Virginia’s Kids Belong, a faith-based non-profit working to serve the over 5,000 children who are currently in foster care and the 850 children currently awaiting adoption in Virginia.
