Created to Create
Please join us for Created to Create: an interactive, art-based Vacation Bible School focusing on glorifying God through creativity. We will be expanding last year's program with new projects, new games, and new lessons!
WHO: Rising kindergarteners through rising 5th graders
WHAT: A week-long exploration of creating and what it means to be created through fun, age-appropriate art workshops
WHEN: Monday, July 14th through Friday, July 18th, 9AM-12PM

COST: $10 per child*
Snacks will be provided!
SPACE IS LIMITED. Registration will close at noon on Tuesday, July 8th.
If you are interested in volunteering, you will be able to sign up when you register the VBS attendees from your household. Childcare will be provided for children of volunteers who are Pre-K and younger.

Meet at the church at 11AM and return by 7AM.
Bring a backpack, sunscreen, snacks (the park allows outside snacks, just no coolers), water bottles, and bathing suits.
We will have lunch in the park, so plan to send $20-$25 with your kids because the park food is expensive. The park is cashless, but there is a place to put your cash onto a temporary credit card if you don’t want to send your kid with a credit/debit card.

Modgnik 2024: Middle School Fall Weekend
Modgnik will take place at Young Life's Rockbridge Camp (Goshen, Virginia) September 5th through 7th.
Modgnik is an opportunity for our middle schoolers to connect with one another and to meet kids their age from other churches around Virginia. They'll spend the weekend building friendships and learning about God through times of worship, talks, small group discussion, and free time at the camp. Over the weekend, we have a chance to do all the activities that Rockbridge has to offer: zip line, ropes course, lake, pool, sports, and more!
Students should arrive at the church parking lot by 4PM on Friday, September 5th, and we will ride together.
We will return around 4PM on Sunday, September 7th.
Students should bring:
- Young Life Release Form signed by parent/guardian on or before departure (we will share this electronically the week of Modgnik)
- Towel(s)
- Pillow
- Sleeping bag/sheets & blanket
- Warm clothes
- Soap
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Other toiletries
- Bathing suit
- Beach towel
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Bible, notebook, pen
- Spending money for snacks and fast food on the road
All three meals are provided by the camp on Saturday, as well as a huge brunch on Sunday morning.

Flowers on the Farm
Join City Church women and friends outside at Shannon Brito's home for Flowers on the Farm on Saturday, May 10th, at 10AM. We will have an outdoor floral arrangement workshop followed by boxed lunches from TASTE. Each participant will come home with their very own arrangement. All are welcome - no experience is required!
Registration closes on Saturday, May 3rd.
Our expert instructor, Hannah Moeslein, will demonstrate how to create a floral arrangement using a variety of flowers for a beautiful arrangement.
*Please note, this year you’ll need to bring your own vase for your arrangement. We will share guidelines from our instructor in the weeks before the event.

City Church Basics: Spring 2025
Please note: This is a two-part event — May 4th & May 7th
City Church Basics is a time to explore who City Church is, what we believe, and how to get more connected to our church community.
We'll meet on Sunday, May 4th (5:30pm-8pm), and Wednesday, May 7th (7-9:30pm) in room 300 at Grace Covenant. Dinner will be provided on the 4th; snacks will be provided on the 7th.
City Church Basics is required for those who wish to become members of City Church, but joining the church is not required after participating.
Please note: Childcare is not provided for City Church Basics. Couples with small children are welcome to divide and conquer, each choosing a night to attend. Please just email Erik (erik@citychurchrva.com) or Val (val@citychurchrva.com) to give a heads-up.

End-of-Year Youth Party
We are going to do a picnic and hang out at Forest Hill Park immediately after Spring Into Service at the church on Saturday morning.

Spring Into Service
Join City Church of Richmond and Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, and Grace Covenant Child Development Center for a day of service!
We'll spend the morning partnering on service projects (details below) and close out our time together with brunch in the Fellowship Hall at Grace Covenant.
Ages 4 and up are welcome! Childcare will be provided for age 0-3.
Spots are limited!
Please note: High schoolers should be registered as adults except for our Foster Care Family Respite project. Kids ages 4 through middle school should be listed on their parents' registration for all projects.

Spend time with kiddos as their foster parents enjoy a morning out. (20 adult volunteers)
**Volunteers serving with this project must be 18 or older and must have a background check no older than 2 years. City Church will provide a background check if needed. High schoolers are welcome to volunteer but must do so alongside an adult. Please register your high schooler separately for this project.**
Playground Mulching
Help beautify the Grace Covenant playground! (15 adult volunteers)
Basement Storage Room Clean-Up
Sort, toss, and organize the many, many items in the basement storage room at Grace Covenant. (5 adult volunteers)
Patty's Hope Thrift Store
Serve off-site at Patty's Hope Thrift Store as they prepare for relocation. (15 adult volunteers)
Fit4Kids School Garden Clean-Up

Spring Into Service Brunch
Host our post-service day brunch by setting up, serving, and cleaning up. (5 adult volunteers)

Embodied: Caring for Our Bodies in Light of the Gospel (4 week class)
Join us for a four-week class, Embodied: Caring for Our Bodies in Light of the Gospel.
Through engaging teaching, personal stories from women in different seasons of life, and thoughtful discussion, we’ll explore the beauty, challenges, and grace of living in a body. Together, we’ll consider:
The theology of having a body
Caring for our bodies with wisdom and grace
Navigating change as we grow
Finding contentment in the bodies and lives we’ve been given
We will meet for 4 weeks on Tuesday evenings beginning on April 29th from 7-8:30 PM at Grace Covenant.

Men's Overnight
Our annual overnight is an opportunity for the men of City Church to connect and deepen our relationships with one another as we enjoy good food, good company, and good discussion.
We'll be at the Airfield 4-H Camp in Wakefield, VA (about an hour away from Richmond). For a dorm-style room, registration is $120. For a double-room, registration is $145 (limited to 40 people, so register early soon).
Registration includes food, drinks, and lodging. If you register before 3/26, you can take advantage of an early bird discount and take $10 off.*

Good Friday Service
On April 18th, we will hold a Good Friday service at Grace Covenant at 7:30 PM. Please plan on joining us for a service of readings, songs, and communion.

Men's Dinner at Tanglewood Ordinary
Join us on Friday, February 21st, at 7pm for our annual Men's Dinner at Tanglewood Ordinary. $35 gets you an all-you-can-eat meal of Southern comfort food, beverages, and dessert.
This is a great opportunity to introduce a friend or family member to the City Church community!
If you would like to carpool we will meet up in the Grace Covenant parking lot at 6pm.

Sunday Formation (Winter/Spring 2025)
**Registration will close at 6:30PM on Wednesday, February 12th. You are still welcome to attend if you weren't able to register.**
Sunday Formation is a time for us to share a meal and learn together—and there's something for everyone!
Sunday Formation begins on February 16th. We'll meet weekly, 5:30-6:30PM, through April 6th.
We are offering three adult classes this fall:
Essential Christianity (focuses on the Apostles' Creed)
The Gospel in Marriage
Ephesians Bible Study
Meanwhile, our kids will be divided by age group to take part in their own Formation activities:

High School Youth Group
We are asking all attendees to indicate which class they plan to join and which sessions they plan to attend. Your registration is not written in stone. We are just hoping to get an estimated attendance so we can plan for food and space.

Marriage Seminar
Join Miriam Bott, Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Gottman Therapist, for a marriage seminar where we will be unpacking the Gottman Method’s research on connection and conflict in relationship:
What is important about connection?
How do we increase connection in marriage?
What is important about conflict?
How do we improve it?
Learn the answers to these questions and engage in meaningful exercises and table discussions in this seminar.

Monday Evening Women’s Small Group
Join us for a women's small group on Monday evenings!
This group will meet on Monday evenings at 7:30pm in room 300 at Grace Covenant. This small group will be a great time to grow in Christ through fellowship, accountability, scripture, and prayer.
The first meeting will be Monday, February 3rd, and will continue to meet throughout the spring with occasional weeks off.

2025 Women's Retreat

We are excited to gather together for our annual women’s retreat. Our retreat weekend is a wonderful time for friendship, spiritual growth, and refreshment! We hope you will join us for this weekend getaway just minutes outside the city.
WHEN and WHERE
Saturday and Sunday, February 1 and February 2
Roslyn Retreat Center
The retreat begins Saturday morning and ends Sunday before lunch. Saturday will start with a morning talk followed by lunch and free time for the afternoon; Saturday evening we will gather for another talk, dinner, and ample time for hanging out. Sunday will be a slow morning including breakfast and the final session of worship and reflection. The weekend includes lunch, dinner, and breakfast at Roslyn.
Registration is offered with and without lodging. Lodging options include a single room or a shared room with two separate beds. Even if you do not spend the night, we strongly encourage you to return for Sunday.

Created to Create Date Night
Enjoy an evening out as your kids (ages 4 through 5th grade) get a preview of Created to Create, an interactive, bible based arts camp! Dinner provided. There are only 50 spots available, so don't wait to sign up!

Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study
We are excited for another season of Bible Study with women and friends of City Church! We will meet in person at Grace Covenant.
Fall Bible Study begins on Wednesday, January 22nd, and concludes on Wednesday, November 13th. Childcare check-in will be from 9:30am to 9:45am, Bible Study begins at 9:45am and will end at 11:30am.
Childcare costs are $12/child for each session ($60 for each additional child). Register early for a $15 discount on childcare costs for the 10 weeks of Bible Study! Discounts are applied for multiple children. All discounts will be applied for the payment transaction.

Off-Site Service
Due to Grace Covenant's Annual Candlelight Service, our December 15th worship service will take place at Remnant Church's Midtown located at 321 N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard. We'll still have nursery care and Children's Worship, and we'll still meet at 4PM.

Wednesday Prayer
We pray together on 2nd, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays at 6:30AM. If you are unable to join in-person, you are welcome to join via Zoom using the meeting ID 549 123 7601.

Women's Holiday Social
Ladies, grab a friend and join us for a holiday social on Monday, December 9th at 7PM at Quirk Hotel (201 W. Broad Street).

City Church Christmas Pageant
Our annual Christmas Pageant will take place on Saturday, December 7th, at Grace Covenant. Performers will arrive at 3:30PM, and the pageant will begin at 4PM. Our pageant will have two parts: the first is for ages 2 (or steady walkers) through 2nd grade, and the second is for 3rd through 5th graders.

Men’s Oyster Roast
Come crush some oysters and other tasty treats with the men of City Church! We'll meet at 7PM on Friday, December 6th at JB Burtch's house.

Women's Advent Reflection
Ladies, please join us on Monday, December 2nd at 7:30PM at Kelly Blanchard's house (1527 Sunset Lane) for a time of Advent reflection. We will have readings, songs, and prayer to help our hearts see God's love for us. It's always a special time to be together as we prepare for Christmas.

Congregational Meeting
We will meet to vote on Barry Saunders’s candidacy for the office of Elder. All are welcome to attend this meeting, but only communing members may vote.
