Andrew Hall

Andrew and his wife, Olivia!

What’s your name?

Andrew Hall

How do you spend your days? (family, work, hobbies)

I work as a science teacher in Henrico County.

What part of town do you live in?

Lakeside

How long have you been going to City Church?

Since 2007.

How are you attending City Church these days?

In person.

What did you expect from 2020 when it started?

Nothing at all.

If you could describe 2020 in three words, what words would you choose?

Fragile: it showed me how truly we are not in control.
Grateful: it showed me lots of little things I take for granted like dinners with people.
Humbling: I've seen my guilt and debt increase rather than recede, as I've failed to love well my kids and wife.

What did the events of 2020 reveal to you about yourself and about Jesus?

The tragedies we face have no solution “under the sun.” A COVID vaccine only delays, not prevents, death; and there is no rational basis for treating all people fairly and kindly outside of being created by God.

How have the events of 2020 pushed you to reimagine your story? How have they pushed you to reimagine your faith?

Not sure. But maybe the events of 2020 have helped me see more clearly that people need to hear about Jesus.

What is your biggest hope for 2021?

To grow in cherishing my wife and kids and becoming a more patient, understanding display of God's love to them; to see City Church grow in loving, courageous witness, and to see five new adult converts baptized at City Church.

The Hall kids.
