Staffing Update

Dear City Church Family,

We’re writing to you today with a bittersweet update. After 14 years of service at City Church, Jennifer Murphy is leaving her position as Director of Preschool Ministry to pursue a career in nursing.

(Don’t worry! The Murphys aren’t moving. They will continue to worship at City Church.)

While we are thrilled to see how God will make use of Jennifer’s heart for service in this new chapter, we are so sad to see her go, as we are sure you all are, too.

Jennifer has been on staff since our nursery was small but mighty. Under her leadership, it has become an integral part of our life as a church family — a place where dozens of kids are safe, celebrated, and shown the love of Jesus every single Sunday. During her time on staff, Jennifer also guided us through our first iterations of VBS and helped cast the visions for our Christmas Pageant and Easter Egg Hunt, now beloved traditions for our church family. But most importantly, Jennifer has spent the last 14 years loving the families in our church so well— by being a listening ear for new parents, by cheering our kids on as if they are her own, and by taking seriously how much we all, big and small, need to hear the story of God’s never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love. We are so grateful.

Jennifer’s final day on staff will be Sunday, July 27th. We will take time during that service to celebrate Jennifer and pray for this next step for her, James, and their boys.

Over the next couple of weeks, the staff and session will begin taking steps to find the next person to lead City Church’s ever-growing ministry to our youngest members. We’ll share updates on that process soon.

In the meantime, please take a moment to thank Jennifer for her many years of service to our church family.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me, any member of our staff, or the session.

Stay Well & Do Good,
Erik (on behalf of the session)
