Partnership Opportunity: Water for Ukraine

In February 2022, a long-simmering conflict between Russia and Ukraine took on new intensity with a Russian invasion into Ukraine. Since then, Ukraine has suffered from a nationwide assault on civilians and residential neighborhoods. Millions of people in Ukraine now live displaced from their homes and in constant fear of attack.

Many following the war in Ukraine have responded with a mixture of sadness, helplessness, and confusion. It’s been hard to know what to do beyond praying for peace. But City Church now has a practical way you can contribute to relieving the suffering in Ukraine…

You’re invited to give in support of an effort to provide 100 water filters to people in Ukraine who lack safe drinking water.

Due to the war, safe drinking water has become scarce for many people. Dead bodies, animal waste, and other contaminants are affecting access to safe water. More recently, in the Kerson region, the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was blown up leading to widespread flooding and forced evacuations. Rescuers are risking their lives to take food and safe water to those who are stranded. Over 80 villages have been flooded and left without access to safe drinking water.

Easy-to-use water filters can be a long-term, life-giving solution for those in Ukraine; each filter can produce up to 1 million gallons of clean water. These devices could be an absolute game-changer for many Ukrainian families affected by the war.

The City Church Ministry Partner Giving Team has set up a matching fund in order to raise money to purchase water filtration systems to be delivered to people in need in Ukraine. Each system costs about $20, and City Church will match all gifts up to $1,000. We are hoping that members of City Church will contribute at least $1,000 to this effort, so that we can underwrite the purchase of a total of 100 of these water filtration systems.

If you’re interested in donating, you can do so online by selecting "Water Filters” from the dropdown menu. Or if you prefer to give by check, you can put "Water Filters" in the memo line and pass the check along to a staff member at Sunday worship or mail it to us at:
