This Month's Prayer Needs: October

At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. Please join us in praying for these community members and partners this month.

EVERYDAY DOXOLOGISTS: COUNSELORS & THERAPISTS

Counselors and therapists are entrusted with the pain, scars, and worries of those in their care. Please pray that they entrust their burdens to the Lord; sit before Him to have their hearts, minds, and spirits renewed; and seek His word and wisdom to enable them to give godly counsel.

LOCAL MISSION PARTNER: ELIJAH HOUSE ACADEMY

Elijah House Academy (EHA) provides a Christ-centered and accessible choice in education that cultivates the hearts, minds, and bodies of our city’s children for God’s glory and Richmond’s flourishing. EHA has returned to in-person instruction for their students, so please pray for continued wisdom for the staff and teachers through that process. Additionally, please join their leadership and staff in prayer as they seek out wisdom in growing EHA’s high school and anticipate growing financial needs in the coming years as more students join the EHA family. For more information on EHA, visit elijahhouseacademy.org or reach out to Barrett Clark, EHA’s Board of Directors chair, at barretteclark@gmail.com.

GLOBAL MISSION PARTNER: BEN & KIM CHURCH

Ben and Kim Church serve in Kampala, Uganda, where they have started a new church, Christ our Refuge (COR), and teach at a Bible College. Christ Our Refuge just held its first in-person service since March, and Ben and Kim ask for prayers for safety for the congregation and effective ministry as they follow all safety precautions. COR’s mercy team has been able to minister to many in the community through their food assistance efforts, and several of those who have been cared for have expressed an interest in coming to church. Join Ben and Kim in praying that the Lord would enable these people to do so and that God would draw their hearts to Him. The Churches will be leaving Uganda for about a year soon, so they also ask for prayer for COR’s leadership during the time they are away—particularly for pastoral assistant, John Lutaaga, as he takes on more ministry responsibilities while they are away and for his preparation for licensure and ordination.
