Bringing Our Brokenness to the Table

Come. Draw near. Abide. Those words are music to my ears. In this dry season of my life, when I feel that my weakness is overwhelming, I need to be reminded of how to come to Jesus, draw near to him, and abide in him. I am so thankful for a time to consider these things in community with other women at City Church.

When I was asked to be on the Women’s Retreat planning team, I jumped at the opportunity. There is something so special about women coming together from all different stages and circumstances of life to encourage each other and be encouraged by God’s Word. We all have different things going on in life. Some of us feel grief, some of us feel joy, some of us feel like it is too dangerous to hope for the future. Some of us are single, some of us are married, some of us have kids. We are all in different situations, and yet, we all have something to bring to the table. We can bring our brokenness and our joy and leave it at the feet of Jesus, believing that he is using it for our good and his glory. And we can do that in community.

We weren’t made to do this life alone. Whether you are a social butterfly, an introvert, or a retreat just isn’t your thing, I invite you to come to Roslyn Retreat Center on January 26th and 27th. I have been to the Women’s Retreat for the past two years, and I have been changed by my time opening up God’s Word with other women, being challenged, and worshipping the One who made us. I trust and believe that God will meet us, wherever we are, and show us what it means to come, draw near, and abide. I am so excited to see how he uses this weekend in our lives and in the life of our church.
