FYI...

This Week's Sermon: Erik will continue our "Word of Life" series this Sunday with a sermon on 2 Timothy 1:8-18. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare for Sunday's service.

Come Watch the Bike Race! The last race of the UCI Road World Championships will take place right before Sunday's service. Please come early and enjoy the race with us before church! (Remember: you WILL have access to the Grace Covenant parking lot--just let the traffic police know you're attending a church service and they will let you through.)

City Groups: City Groups are groups of adults attending City Church who meet weekly in someone’s home for the purpose of knowing Jesus more, serving others, and praying for our city. All groups are open and City Group leaders can be contacted via the church website for more info. Questions? Email Joshua Earman at joshua@citychurchrva.com.

COMING UP AT CITY CHURCH...

Leadership Basics: The first Leadership Basics session will meet on Sunday, September 27th, from 9-11am. These sessions will provide a dynamic and interactive introduction to foundational Biblical principles of leadership that will be useful for ministry in the home, in the church, and in the city. Erik, Joshua, and other leaders from City Church will be leading the sessions which will take place at the Commonwealth Chapel building located at 1836 Park Avene at the corner of Meadow. The other dates for Leadership Basics this Fall are: 10/11, 10/25, 11/15, and 11/22. Please RSVP to Val (val@citychurchrva.com) TODAY so we can prepare materials for you.

Women’s Retreat: Our 2015 Fall Women’s Retreat will take place Saturday, November 7th through Sunday, November 8th at Wintergreen Resort. Courtney Thompson of RUF at UVA will be our speaker. Registration is already underway, and prices go up after September 18th, so don’t delay! Register for the retreat here. And please do NOT let cost prohibit your from attending; please contact Meg Haden (meg@citychurchrva.com) to discuss financial assistance if needed.

Hope for People-Pleasers: Fearing Less, Loving More: One of the deepest, most common roots of our relational problems is the act of replacing God with people. Whether it is labeled peer pressure, people-pleasing, or need for attention and approval it is seen in how we overachieve, feel easily embarrassed, or get angry when are faults are exposed. This is a universal problem. This course examines those roots and outlines God’s antidote. We’ll meet on six Sundays (beginning September 13th) in room 303 at Grace Covenant from 2:45-3:45pm. Childcare available by request (please RSVP for childcare here). Email joshua@citychurchrva.com for info.

Church Harvest Party! City Church’s Annual Harvest Party is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd. We’ll meet out at Smithfield Farm (1464 Newtown Road, St. Stephens Church, VA 23148) to share a meal, play some games, and enjoy each other’s company. More details here!
