PREPARE & CONNECT

This Week's Sermon: Our "Songs of Summer" series continues as Erik preaches on Psalm 104. We encourage you to read ahead as a way to prepare for Sunday's service.

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, September 11th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, September 12th (9:30am to noon) at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this next session, please RSVP to Val Catrow (val@citychurchrva.com). Contact Erik (erik@citychurchrva.com) with questions.

GATHER

Prayer Tomorrow: At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. This summer we will pray through selected Psalms together, learning how to use these Biblical songs to shape how we talk with God and how we live into the Christian story. Please join us tomorrow, August 20th, at 7am to pray. Meet in the Church office, 3rd floor at Grace Covenant. Enter in the back entrance of building. We hope to see you there. (City Church prayer takes place every other Thursday.)

Women's Social: Come and join women from City Church on September 9th, 7-9pm, for an evening of drinks, snacks, and desserts! This will be a great evening to kick off the fall and spend time with new and old friends. Bring a drink or a snack to share! We'll meet at Caitlin Wise’s home: 411 Chimborazo Boulevard. View the invite here.

Hope for People-Pleasers: Fearing Less, Loving More: One of the deepest, most common roots of our relational problems is the act of replacing God with people. Whether it is labeled peer pressure, people-pleasing, or need for attention and approval it is seen in how we overachieve, feel easily embarrassed, or get angry when are faults are exposed. This is a universal problem. This course examines those roots and outlines God’s antidote. Begins September 13th at the church in room 303 from 2:45-3:45pm for 6 weeks. Childcare available by request. joshua@citychurchrva.com for info.

Women's Fall Bible Studies: Our fall Bible studies begin September 14th and 16th, Monday evenings, 7:30-9pm OR Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:30am (childcare provided) . Please join us this fall as we study the book of Ephesians! In this letter, Paul writes of the amazing community that God has created among believers through Jesus and also encourages us to mature in our faith and life with Christ and one another. Please register using this form so we can plan for booklets and childcare.
