From Modern Europe to Mud Homes

When you ask one of our missionaries what they would like from churches in the United States the answers are similar:

Don’t forget us.
Pray for us.

The Missions Team of City Church hope each person in our congregation will 1) know whom we support as a church and 2) pray regularly for those who left home and friends in the US to tell those in other countries about Jesus.

Who are the global missionaries supported by City Church?

Currently we support several different missionaries in three different parts of the world...

Prague, Czech Republic
Phil and Shanna Davis: Church Planters and Pastor of Faith Community Church
Jessica Forbes: Worship leader and women’s ministry leader at Faith Community Church

Uganda
Jenna Murphy: (pictured above) Training rural women in handcrafts and small business and leading Bible studies with women in Fort Portal, Uganda
Ben and Kim Church: Church planters in Kampala, Uganda who are also teaching future pastors at Westminster Bible college

South Asia*
Josh: Teaching English and working alongside Young Life
Robbie and Minh Loan: Encouraging the local church through Bible teaching

How can we pray for a global ministry partners today?

Generally, please pray for all of our ministry partners in their continued work in sharing the gospel throughout all of God's kingdom. Pray for friendships, endurance, and comfort in times of uncertainty and homesicknesses.

Jenna and the Davises have also filled us in on ways we can pray specifically for them—we'll update this post as more requests from our other partners come in.

For Jenna in Uganda...

Jenna writes:

"Serge requires all cross cultural missionaries to spend the first six months of ministry studying the culture and language of the indigenous people. I spend ten hours a week with my language helper, twenty hours a week at Women of the Proverbs and Green Leaf Crafts (GLC) , and approximately fifteen plus hours in the community. Meeting people in the community may include walking up and down my street, visiting people in their homes, reading to the children in my neighborhood, shopping at the local market, and/or attending the local church.

In June of 2017, I will have finished my transition phase which will allow me to mentor women one on one, lead Bible studies, head up marketing for GLC, and search for sustainable retail /whole sale opportunities in Uganda.  My days are full here. Yet, knowing you all are supporting me, in numerous ways provides  me with great endurance and encouragement. When I am alone I remember that I have a team of people behind me. I praise God for your faithfulness in giving and praying!  Don’t stop!  Please continue to give and pray. God is changing hearts, changing me, and drawing others closer to Himself."

Pray for Jenna to live as a person of peace on her team and in her neighborhood. As she befriends more neighbors and serves the women in her community, pray for opportunities for her to share about her hope in Jesus Christ.

For the Davises in Prague...

This summer, Phil and Shanna see many transitions happening at the same time and ask we pray for for stamina and faith through this pivotal season.

1.  The church had been without a place to worship and recently found a property they are restoring. Pray for the finances to come in for them to be able to create a ministry center in the city enabling them to extend their work in creative ways. At the bottom of this post is a video of Phil giving a tour of the new space—please take a moment to watch it and join us in thanking God for his provision of this new location.

2.  The long term vision of Faith Community includes planting daughter churches throughout the city. This summer the church will be in a unique time as they send a large group of leaders to plant a new church while moving into a new facility.  Pray for God to raise up the right people at the right time.

*Due to the current political climate in South Asia we cannot include our ministry partners' last names.
