PREPARE & CONNECT
This Week’s Sermon: Our series “Songs of Summer” continues this week as Joshua preaches on Psalm 33. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare for Sunday’s service.
City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, September 12th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, September 13th (9:30am to noon) at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this next session, please RSVP to Val Catrow (firstname.lastname@example.org). Contact Erik (email@example.com) with questions.
Men's Bible Study Hangout TONIGHT! It's an off-week for Summer Bible Studies, but we're still getting together. Gentlemen, please meet tonight at 7pm at Ardent Craft Ales (3200 W. Leigh Street). Bring a friend!
Welcome Back Sunday! All are welcome to join us for dinner immediately after our service on August 23rd to celebrate Welcome Back Sunday (previously known as “Fall Kick-Off”). This is a time when will share a meal, reconnect with students coming back for the new semester, and learn about what we’ve got coming up in the fall. View the Evite here–and if you’re interested in helping out with this event, please contact Val Catrow at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Save the Date! Cornell West to speak in Richmond: Public intellectual and Princeton University professor Cornell West will kick off the VCU speaker series titled, “Race, Citizenship, and Memory in the South.” The series aims to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery and to recognize the nation’s ongoing journey toward racial justice. This particular event will be held at the Stuart C. Siegel Center (1200 W. Broad Street) at 6pm on September 3rd and is free and open to the public.
Hangout with Randolph Kids: Randolph’s annual National Night Out is on Tuesday, August 4th and we’re looking for volunteers who can help serve food, run basketball competitions, and do some face-painting with the kids anytime from 5:30 to 8:30 pm! This is a great opportunity to build relationships and demonstrate Christ’s love. Contact Blake Stack (email@example.com) if interested.
