PREPARE & CONNECT

New Volunteer Rotation Starts Sunday: This Sunday marks the beginning of our June-September volunteer rotation. If you haven't already, please take a look at the volunteer rotation to see if/when you are scheduled to serve. Thank you!

This Week's Sermon: Erik will kick off our summer series "Songs of Summer" with a sermon on Psalm 1 on Sunday. We encourage you to read ahead as a way to prepare for this week's service.

Farewell to the Rowans: Peter Rowan, VCU's RUF Campus Pastor and a long-time partner and attendee of City Church, has been called to serve as Pastor at a church in Harrisburg, PA. Peter, Melise, and Lillie will be moving to their new home in Pennsylvania within the next couple weeks, and this Sunday will be their last service at City Church. We are so grateful for the time we've had with the entire Rowan family, and we will spend some time during Sunday's service praying for this new chapter in their lives. (For those of you connected to RUF, Peter's faithful intern, Jacob Lee, will be staying to serve another year until RUF hires a new campus pastor. If you have any questions about this transition, feel free to contact him at jacob.lee@ruf.org).

Welcome, Summer Interns! We are excited to announce our interns for Summer 2015! Hannah Sullivan and Gretchen Mull will serve as our Children’s Ministry Interns; Jenna Murphy is our Women’s Ministry Intern; Doug McBride is our Discipleship Intern; and Blake Stack is our Mercy & Justice Intern.

New City Church Pastor! With great excitement we want to introduce Joshua Earman as City Church’s new pastor, effective July 5th. Joshua is married to Katie and they have four children: Anna (9), Beth (8), Eva (6), and Isaac (4). Both Joshua and his wife Katie are natives of Virginia and graduates of James Madison University. After working with Cru for 8 years (in Harrisonburg and in China), the Earmans went to St. Louis where Joshua attended Covenant Seminary. For the last two years they have lived and ministered at a church outside of Philadelphia. We look forward to their move to Richmond and ask you to pray for them during this time of transition. If you are interested in seeing Joshua’s resume or the description for his role at City Church, please contact Val (val@citychurchrva.com). For general questions about Joshua joining the City Church staff, feel free to contact Erik (erik@citychurchrva.com).

Backyard Bible Club Registration: Our first-ever Backyard Bible Club (BBC) is coming in July! Kids ages 4 through 5th grade graduates are invited to join us July 6th through 10th at Scuffletown Park from 6pm to 7:30pm to sing songs, play games, and learn more about Jesus and His love for them! The registration form can be found right here on the City Church website. And please encourage your kids to invite their friends! If you have questions about BBC, please contact Jennifer Murphy at jennifer@citychurchrva.com.

Sign Up for Text Message Updates: You can now opt-in to receive updates and reminders from City Church via text message. Don’t worry, we won’t be blowing up your phone every five minutes. The plan is to use this as a means to communicate important pieces of information quickly. To opt-in, Text the phrase @citychurch to 23559. You should receive a confirmation message within a few seconds.

GATHER

Meet & Greet on Sunday: All are welcome to join us for coffee and snacks on the patio (weather premitting) following Sunday’s service. Nothing formal–just a chance to enjoy some refreshments, catch up with friends, and meet new people. If it rains, we'll meet in the parlor.

The Women’s Study will meet Tuesday evenings, beginning June 9th, from 7:30-9pm and the Men’s Study will meet Wednesday evenings, beginning June 10th, from 7:30-9. Both groups will meet on the third floor of Grace Covenant. The Bible studies will go through August with a few breaks through the summer. SERVE

Welcome, Baby Morton! Hank Julian Morton arrive this morning, June 3rd, weighing in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches. We'll be providing meals for Liz and Matt for several weeks as they adjust to life at home with their new baby boy. Volunteer with Backyard Bible Club! We are in need of several volunteers to make BBC possible, so we hope you’ll consider offering your time. Some volunteer positions require daily attendance, while others allow you to be more selective about which days you can serve. We are so grateful for any time you can give! To sign up, please visit this link. If you have questions volunteering with BBC (or BBC-related questions in general), please contact Jennifer Murpy at jennifer@citychurchrva.com.
