New City Church Pastor! With great excitement we want to introduce Joshua Earman as City Church’s new pastor, effective July 5th. Joshua is married to Katie and they have four children: Anna (9), Beth (8), Eva (6), and Isaac (4). Both Joshua and his wife Katie are natives of Virginia and graduates of James Madison University. After working with Cru for 8 years (in Harrisonburg and in China), the Earmans went to St. Louis where Joshua attended Covenant Seminary. For the last two years they have lived and ministered at a church outside of Philadelphia. We look forward to their move to Richmond and ask you to pray for them during this time of transition. If you are interested in seeing Joshua’s resume or the description for his role at City Church, please contact Val ( For general questions about Joshua joining the City Church staff, feel free to contact Erik (

Children's Worship on Sunday: Typically on 5th Sundays, the Children's Worship kids have the opportunity to stay in "big church" with their parents, but this month on May 31st, there will be a special class for your kids during worship, led by Leland Bonkovsky and a couple of the other Prague mission trip team members. They will discuss the team's upcoming trip to Prague and how the Children's Worship kids can offer some very special help.

Volunteer with Backyard Bible Club! We are in need of several volunteers to make BBC possible, so we hope you’ll consider offering your time. Some volunteer positions require daily attendance, while others allow you to be more selective about which days you can serve. We are so grateful for any time you can give! To sign up, please visit this link. If you have questions volunteering with BBC (or BBC-related questions in general), please contact Jennifer Murpy at

Mercy Fund on Sunday: We will take up a special mercy fund offering at Sunday’s service, as we always do on the last Sunday of the month. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
