City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, May 8th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, May 9th (9:30-noon)at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Prayer Tomorrow: At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer: dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. Please join us tomorrow, April 30th, at 7am to pray. This week we will focus on praying for the recent events in Baltimore and Nepal. Meet in the Church office, 3rd floor at Grace Covenant. Enter in the back entrance of building. Common Good RVA Panel–Fostering Healthy Communities: Danny Avula, Deputy Director of the Richmond City Health Department, and a panel of other Richmonders will offer their personal experiences and perspectives on what’s needed to foster healthy communities for the flourishing of Richmond. We’ll meet at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital Education Center at 5801 Bremo Road on Thursday, April 30th. Doors open at 7pm, and the event begins at 7:30pm. Admission is free. Adult Christian Formation Series: For the next several Sundays we will explore the Ethics of Resurrection Life (topics will include: love, forgiveness, empathy, steadfastness, and gratitude. This discussion will take place from 3-3:45 PM in Room 303 at Grace Covenant and will be facilitated by Erik, Meg, and other leaders at City Church. Children’s Ministry Volunteers Thank You Reception: Everyone who has volunteered with children’s ministry (nursery, Children’s Worship, grades 3-5 class, and youth) within the last year is invited to come by the parlor after our service on Sunday to enjoy some refreshements as a thank you for all you do in serving City Church’s youngest members!
Chattanooga Trip! We are excited to travel to Chattanooga to work with Hope for the Inner City from Wednesday night, July 15th through Sunday, July 19th! It will be a great trip to build relationships, think critically about loving our neighbors from low-income backgrounds, and reflect on our collective need for Christ’s mercy. Meals for the Kronenthals: Frederick King Kronenthal was born on Thursday, April 16th at 11:03pm. Fred weighed in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces. For the next several weeks we will provide meals for Jeannie, Mark, big sister Louise, and big brother George as they adjust to life at home as a family of five.
