This week's sermon: John will continue our Advent sermon series ("O Come, O Come, Emmanuel") with a sermon on Isaiah 11:1-10. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare yourself for Sunday's service.

Advent resources: For more information on Advent events and resources, please take a moment to read this post from John on the City Church website. It inclues a little background on the practice of Advent, as well as practical ideas to guide your worship.

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, January 16th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, January 17th (9:30-noon) at Grace Covenant. Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this next session, please RSVP to Val Catrow ( Contact Erik ( with questions.

December 21st service: Our service on December 21st will take place at Beth Ahabah, located at 1117 W. Franklin Street, just a few blocks down the street. We will still meet at 4pm and nursery care and Children's Worship will still be available.

Christmas Eve services: We will hold two Christmas Eve services here at Grace Covenant: a family-friendly service at 3pm and an 11pm service with lessons, carols, and communion. FYI: Childcare will not be provided at these services.


Sunday's Meet & Greet: All are welcome to join us for coffee and snacks on the patio following Sunday’s service. Nothing formal–just a chance to enjoy some refreshments, catch up with friends, and meet new people.

City Church Christmas Pageant, Party, and Sing-Along! Our Christmas celebration will take place on Saturday, December 6th here at Grace Covenant. We’ll kick things off with the pageant at 5:30, followed by dinner, and a fantastic Christmas carol sing-along. Please bring a dish to share! If you’re interested in helping with any (or all!) parts of this event, please email Val Catrow at Please note: all kids (steady walkers and up) are welcome to take part in the pageant--visitors included.

Friday Night Dinner: Our next Friday night dinner is on December 12th, and we want you to join us! These are casual dinners open to all – members, visitors, neighbors, etc... – that provide a chance for us to get to know new people within our community. Hosts will provide the main dish, and each attendee (up to 10 per house) can bring a side of their choosing to share with the group. Randolph Christmas Caroling: On Saturday, December 13th, at 9:30am, we will visit the Randolph Place Retirement Home to sing Christmas carols and visit with the residents, put together a simple craft to leave with them, and share the love of Christ with them. This will be the fourth year we've visited them at Christmas, and it's always such a great time!  We will meet at 9:30 in the Randolph Community Center to warm up our voices and enjoy donuts and coffee together, and will head next door for caroling at 10:00. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Art for Advent reception: Immediately following our service on Sunday, December 14th, we will host a reception in the parlor where the work submitted for Art for Advent will be on display. Please plan on joining us!


Meals for City Church Families: We are currently providing meals for the Beckendorfs, the Bleckleys, the Rumrills, and the Halls as they’ve each welcomed new babies in the last couple weeks.
