This week's sermon: Our Advent series, "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel", continues this week with a sermon from Erik on Haggai 2:1-9. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare yourself for Sunday's service.

Sunday's service: Sunday's service (December 21st) will take place at Beth Ahabah, located just a few blocks away at 1117 W. Franklin Street. We will not have access to the parking deck, but on-street parking should be readily available. That said, please build in extra time to locate parking. We will still meet at 4pm and nursery and Children's Worship will still take place.

A note about year-end giving: Please note that all end-of-year contribution checks need to be in-hand or postmarked by December 31st to go towards 2014 deductions. Checks with a postmark of December 31st (or before) will be counted as 2014 giving if they are received no later than January 10th, 2015. Online gifts will still need to be made by December 31st (some credit cards take 3-5 business to process, so please take that into consideration).

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, January 16th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, January 17th (9:30-noon)at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Pastor search team: City Church has put together a team of members to help identify a new pastor to replace John Bourgeois when he and his family move to North Carolina in Spring 2015. That search team is comprised of Susie Austin, Andy and Caley Crawford, Jamie Mock, Brianne Baudean, David Blanchard, and Erik Bonkovsky. If at any point you have any questions or recommendations for the team, please reach out to one of them directly.


Women’s holiday happy hours: Bring a friend and join other women from City Church for Holiday Happy Hours from 5:30-7:30pm around town next week. Christmas Eve services: We will hold two Christmas Eve services here at Grace Covenant: a family-friendly service at 3:30pm and an 11pm service with lessons, carols, and communion. FYI: Childcare will not be provided at these services.


Barnabas Training Basic--Becoming a Better Spiritual Friend: Barnabas Training Basic equips you to better encourage friends facing difficult times in life and faith. This biblically based seminar helps you understand others by gaining a biblical understanding of your own heart. It includes lectures and an interactive small group experience, plus reflective time to practically apply principles to one real-life friendship. The seminar will help you better understand yourself as well as invite others into a deeper relationship in Christ. Barnabas Training Basic forms the foundation for those who want further training in caring for others (Barnabas Training Level One, Two, Three, & Four). Barnabas Training Basic will take place on January 31st from 9am to 4pm at Movement Church, 3015 Cutshaw Avenue. Early registration is $80 and runs through January 16th; regular registration is $110.
