This Week’s Sermon: Erik will continue our series on life in exile with a sermon on Daniel 2:1-30. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare yourself for this week’s sermon.

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will be on Friday, August 22nd (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, August 23rd (9am-noon) at Grace Covenant. Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. City Church Fall Kick-Off! All are welcome to join us after the August 24th service for our Fall Kick-Off. We’ll meet out on the portico for dinner (weather permitting). Following dinner we’ll have a brief time where you can learn more about ways to get involved in City Church ministries this Fall. BBQ (chicken and pork) will be provided. If your last name begins with A-M, please bring a side dish to share. If your last name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert to share.

International Student Outreach: VCU has a growing number of international students, but few of them connect with people outside the VCU international student community. As a church, we seek to care for these students by modeling Christ’s love through friendship and community. Contact Barrett Clark at if you’re interested in being a conversation partner, hosting visitors in cultural exchanges, or joining social events for students.

Summer Parenting Conversations: We will hold one more parenting conversation this summer on Wednesday, August 13th from 5:30-7:30pm at Grace Covenant in Room 303. Childcare will be provided ($10/child; $20 family maximum). Dinner for your children will also be provided for those who desire. Meals for the Davises: Julie and George Davis welcomed a baby girl, Savannah Joy Davis, on Tuesday, July 22nd. We will provide meals for Julie and George for several weeks as they adjust to life at home with Savannah.
