City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will be on Friday, August 22nd (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, August 23rd (9am-noon) at Grace Covenant. Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Summer Parenting Conversations: We will hold two more parenting conversations on Wednesday evenings this summer: July 23rd (that's tonight!) and August 13th from 5:30-7:30pm. All of the meetings will take place at Grace Covenant in Room 303. Childcare will be provided ($10/child; $20 family maximum). Dinner for your children will also be provided for those who desire. Perspectives on the World Christian Movement Class: This 15-week is a great opportunity for people who are interested in knowing more about how God is at work in the nations, either because they want to serve in missions or because they want their churches to be better informed and engaged. Material is presented from four perspectives: Biblical, Historical, Strategic, and Cultural, and the class will feature both local and national speakers from missions and church groups around the world. The class will meet every Tuesday night from 6-9pm at Eternity Church (1900 Chamberlayne Avenue) beginning September 2nd and ending December 9th. Cost is between $250 and $575, depending on whether you are seeking college credit. Visit this link for more details.
Sacred Marriage (with Gary Thomas): Strengthen your current or future marriage and uncover how your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God and each other. This First Things First event will take place at West End Assembly of God (401 N. Parham Road) on Saturday, August 23rd, 8:30am to 12:30pm. Tickets are $25 until July 31st; the ticket price will then increase to $30. Sacred Search -- An Evening for Singles: Gary Thomas will also be speaking at West End Assembly of God on Friday, August 22nd at 7pm. He will discuss his book Sacred Search and faciliate a conversation on anticipating marriage. Food trucks will arive at 5:30pm, and there will also be a live band. Mercy Fund on Sunday: We will take up a special mercy fund offering at Sunday’s service, as we always do on the last Sunday of the month. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
