Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals: Traffic & Parking Details

The 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals will be held here in Richmond on Friday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 4th. The course goes up and down Monument and also includes surrounding streets. The traffic flow in and out of Grace Covenant's parking lot will be affected. Here are some details for each day of the race (thanks to Rev. Bobby Hulme-Lipert, pastor of Grace Covenant, for hashing these out for us):

Friday, May 2nd

  • The race will affect our parking from 9am to 4:30pm.
  • Monument Avenue will be closed in front of the church, and you will not be able to park on Monument Avenue. Alternate routes to church are Boulevard, Meadow, or Harrison.
  • Once at church, you can enter on the Allen Avenue side of the parking lot only. If you are stopped by a police office, tell him/her that you need to get into the church and you will be allowed.
  • Exit on the Lombardy side of the lot only. A police officer will be there directing traffic, as part of the course will take competitors onto Lombardy. Please be patient as you wait to exit; it should only take a few moments.

Saturday, May 3rd

  • The race will affect our parking from 7am to 7:30pm.
  • Parking instructions are the same as those given for Friday (see above).

Sunday, May 4th

  • The race will affect our parking from 7am to 7:30pm.
  • Parking instructions are the same those given for Friday and Saturday (see above).
  • If the church parking lot is full, you will need to park elsewhere in the Fan. We suggest (if you are able) that you try to carpool, bike, or walk to church on this particular Sunday.
