City Church Basics THIS WEEKEND: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, April 25th (7pm-9:30pm) and Saturday, April 26th (9:30am-noon) at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Cylcing Collegiate Road Nationals Info: The 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals will be held here in Richmond on Friday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 4th. The course goes up and down Monument and also includes surrounding streets. The traffic flow in and out of Grace Covenant’s parking lot will be affected. Young Life 5k: Young Life in Hanover County is hosting the Ashcreek 5K on the morning of Saturday May 3rd. They need runners. Would you consider registering and running in this great event. Race registration is $28, and every dollar raised goes to support leaders, staff, and kids going to camp this summer! You can register at Ashcreek5k.com.
Men’s Overnight: Our annual Men’s Overnight will take place at Chanco on the James the evening of Friday, May 9th through the late afternoon of Saturday, May 10th. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and establish community with other men at City Church. Cost ranges from $25-$50 per person, depending on accommodations, and includes food. Welcome, Baby Berg! Christine and Lanny Berg welcomed a baby girl--Sahalie Rebecca Berg--on April 14th. Sahalie weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Stewards of Children (RSVPs needed!): City Church will host Stewards of Children Training, a nationally recognized child sexual abuse prevention training that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. This course will take place on Saturday, April 26th from 10am to 12:30pm in room 311 at Grace Covenant. Representatives from Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) will conduct the course. All City Church members and attendees are welcome to attend. As April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Greater Richmond SCAN is offering this training free of charge. Mercy Fund on Sunday: As this Sunday is the last Sunday of the month, we will take up a special offering for the City Church Mercy Fund. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
