COMING UP THIS WEEK
This Week’s Sermon Text: This Sunday Erik will preach on Ephesians 2:1-10. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon.
Prayer Tomorrow: Please join members of City Church’s leadership and staff to pray for City Church tomorrow, September 12th, from 7am-8am in the church office, 1627 Monument Avenue, Suite 304.
Cultivating Communities of Mercy Seminar (childcare RSVP): Extending our friendship to those in difficult circumstances can feel challenging when we try to do it alone, apart from Christian community. On Saturday, September 21st from 9:30 to noon (in room 303 at Grace Covenant), we’ll explore how to build networks of support to strengthen our ability to care for our friends both within and outside of City Church. Refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available for $10 per child/maximum $20 per family. Register for childcare here. Please register for childcare by Wednesday, September 18th so we know how many children will attend. Contact Patrick Shay (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Blake Stack (email@example.com) for more information.
City Church Missions Team: Interested in learning more about missions at City Church or helping out with the missions team? You can join us at our September 29th meeting. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Newcomers' Reception: We will host a informational session for City Church newcomers on Sunday, September 22nd from 5:30-6pm in the parlor. This brief meeting will give those who are new to City Church a chance to meet some of the staff, meet other people new to City Church, and learn more about the church as a whole. Feel free to pass this info along to those who might be interested in attending.
Congregational Meeting: We will hold a congregational meeting immediately following the service on Sunday, October 13th to elect deacons and elders. All communing members of City Church are eligible to vote. An email was sent out to all members earlier this week with more information on this meeting. If you haven't already done so, please review that email and contact Erik (email@example.com) if you have any questions.
Meals for City Church Families: City Church is currently providing meals for two City Church families: the Warshaws (who welcomed a baby girl, Madeline Beatrice on September 3rd) and the Whipples (who welcomed a baby boy, Frank August "Gus", on September 4th). If you're interested in serving the Warshaws and/or the Whipples in this way, please visit takethemameal.com to sign up. Simply enter the family's last name as the log-in and password to locate each schedule.
Women’s Fall Bible Studies: Ladies, we are excited for you to join us this fall as we study the Psalms together. Our studies began this week, but please feel free to join us if you haven't already! We have two studies available, both taking place at Grace Covenant: Monday evenings (beginning September 9th) from 7:30pm to 9pm and Wednesday mornings (beginning September 11th) from 9:30am to 11:30am. Childcare is available during the Wednesday study for $10 per child/maximum $20 per family. Please contact Meg Haden (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions. Register for your study of choice (and childcare, if needed) here.
City Groups: City Groups are getting ready to start up again for the Fall, so if you’re interested in joining one, please get in touch! City Groups are groups that meet in people’s homes each week to read the Bible, share life together, pray for one another, and out of these groups serve their neighbors. For more information and to get connected to a group, email email@example.com.
