Prayer Tomorrow: Please join members of City Church’s leadership and staff to pray for City Church tomorrow, August 14th from 7am-8am at the church's new office, 1627 Monument Avenue, Suite 304.

First Things First Marriage Conference: First Things First will help host a two-day marriage conference on August 16th and 17th at the Mechanicsville Christian Center (8061 Shady Grove Road). The conference will feature a presentation from Michael and Amy Smalley entitled “The Suprising Way to a Stronger Marriage.” Tickets are $30 per person. Visit to learn more and to register.

CARITAS: August 17th through 23rd, City Church will partner with Grace Covenant to serve homeless women of Richmond through the CARITAS ministry. Our hope is to provide more than simply food and shelter; we aim to provide a welcome that demonstrates the richness of Christ’s love and grace. City Groups: City Groups are groups that meet in people's homes each week to read the Bible, share life together, pray for one another, and out of these groups serve their neighbors. For more information and to get connected to a group, email

City Church Fall Kick-Off: All are welcome to join us after the August 25th service for our Fall Kick-Off. We'll meet in the fellowship hall (in the basement at Grace Covenant) for dinner; following dinner we'll have a brief time where you can learn more about ways to get involved in City Church ministries this fall. BBQ (chicken and pork) will be provided. If your last name begins with A-M, please bring a side dish to share.  If your last name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert to share.

Gilpin Games: Saturday, August 24th at 9:30am, STEP (Strategies to Elevate People) will host its annual Gilpin Games, a back-to-school event to promote school readiness for families in the Gilpin Court housing project.  You can participate by bringing elementary school supplies to City Church on Sunday, Aug. 18th and adding them to the school supply bin.  We are also looking for several volunteers to join us for the morning on August 24th, when we will be offering several carnival-style games for the children.  If interested, contact Lauren Mathews at

Sexual Sanity Groups: Sexual Sanity groups exist to serve men at City Church by helping us re-create our minds in our sexually insane culture. If you are male and need help, contact to get connected with a group.


Welcome, Baby Vaughan! Marshall Lowery Vaughan was born at 11:27am on Monday, August 5th. He was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place the evening of Friday, August 23rd (7-9:30), and the morning of August 24th (9:30-noon). Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Truth Project Discussion Group: Two City Church members–Jimmy Balta and George Davis–invite you to join them this Fall for a Truth Project Discussion Group. Designed to equip Christians with a comprehensive biblical worldview, the Truth Project utilizes a DVD-based small group discussion format. Each lesson examines a specific area of culture (e.g. Work & Labor, Philosophy & Ethics, History, Science, Theology, Government) through the lens of Scripture.
