COMING UP THIS WEEK
This Week’s Sermon Text: This Sunday Erik will preach on 2 Samuel 12:1-15. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon.
Loving Our Muslim Neighbors: Nathan Elmore, Baptist Collegiate Minister at VCU, will host a seminar entitled "New Samaritans: Loving Our Muslim Neighbors" on Wednesday, July 24th and Wednesday, July 31st at 9pm at Northminster Church (3121 Moss Side Avenue). If you're interested in attending or have questions, please contact Nathan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Newcomers Reception: We will host a informational session for City Church newcomers on Sunday, July 28th from 5:30-6pm in the parlor. This brief meeting will give those who are new to City Church a chance to meet some of the staff, meet other people new to City Church, and learn more about the church as a whole. Feel free to pass this info along to those who might be interested in attending.
Mercy Fund on Sunday: We will take up a special mercy fund offering at Sunday’s service, as we always do on the last Sunday of the month. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
Financial Support for Chattanooga Missions Trip: City Church will be sending a team of 8 people to Chattanooga at the end of July: John Bourgeois; James Murphy; Liz Crim; Matt Rawls; Michael Barger; and Catherine, Julia, and Sophia Kerns. If you'd like to make a financial contribution to the trip, you can do so via check or our online payment system. Funds can go towards the entire team or towards individuals; just be sure to indicate your preference on the memo line of your check or choose the corresponding fund when making an online contribution. If you have questions or would like to also support the team through prayer, please contact John Bourgeois at email@example.com.
City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place the evening of Friday, August 23rd (7-9:30), and the morning of August 24th (9:30-noon). Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this session, get in touch with Val at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions, please contact Erik at email@example.com.
RISC Informational Meeting: City Church is gathering a group to participate in RISC, an interfaith organization that seeks to build a community of diverse congregations to address the root causes of injustice in the Greater Richmond region and remove barriers preventing access to basic needs and resources. If you’re interested in learning more or in joining City Church’s team, we will be gathering in the parlor at Grace Covenant at 6pm on August 4th. For those interested, we will go out to dinner following the meeting. Please contact Barrett Clark at firstname.lastname@example.org or 804-241-4734 with questions.
CARITAS: August 17th through 23rd, City Church will partner with Grace Covenant to serve homeless women of Richmond through the CARITAS ministry. Our hope is to provide more than simply food and shelter; we aim to provide a welcome that demonstrates the richness of Christ’s love and grace. Please consider volunteering as an individual, with friends, or as a City Group. Please speak with James Eggleston (email@example.com) or Zach Radcliff (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more info.
