This week’s sermon text: This Sunday Erik will preach on Matthew 28:1-10. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon. **COMING UP THIS WEEK**
Prayer tomorrow: Please join members of City Church’s leadership and staff to prayfor City Church tomorrow, March 28th, from 7am-8am at the church office (1520 W. Main Street, Suite 105).
Good Friday Service: On Good Friday (March 29th), City Church is holding a service together with our sister church, Northside Church of Richmond. The service will take place at 7pm at their location: Battery Park Christian Church at 4201 Brook Road.
No Children’s Worship: As this is the fifth Sunday of the month, Children’s Worship will not take place during that service. We encourage parents to worship with their children and to see it as an opportunity to teach them about the service. (Nursery care will still be available for ages 0 through 3.)
Mercy Fund: We will take up a special mercy fund offering at Sunday's service. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
City Groups and Loaves & Fishes: As City Church's ministry with Loaves & Fishes (our monthly outreach in which we provide a meal for those in need) continues to grow, we would like to invite City Groups to commit to serving these monthly meals on a more regular basis. What does this mean? It means that City Groups would help to plan, shop, prepare and serve at L&F twice a year. Groups that participate will designate a "point-person/coordinator" to attend a one-time training about the ministry and the monthly responsibilities. This person will then report back to the group as to what is expected of them. It is our hope that as a City Group, folks will work together and enjoy this experience in service.
If your group decides to serve with L&F, please have the designated coordinator contact Ingrid Deroo (email@example.com) by Sunday, April 7th. When responding, please indicate your group's preference regarding dates. The dates for the next twelve months are:
May 19, 2013 June 16, 2013 July 21, 2013 August 18, 2013 September 15, 2013 October 20, 2013 November 17, 2013 December 15, 2013 January 19, 2014 February 16, 2014 March 16, 2014 April 20, 2014
For coordinators, there will be a Loaves and Fishes meeting at Ingrid deRoo's house Sunday April 14th at 7pm. Please email her for details.
Men’s Overnight: The City Church Men’s Overnight is 3pm Friday, May 10, 2013 till 4pm Saturday, May 11. It will be held at Chanco on the James (located about forty-five minutes south of Richmond). We will have access to the James River waterfront as well as all sorts of other outdoor activities. Please save the date and register through this link. Dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday are all included in the registration fee. This overnight is a great time to get away with other men from City Church. We will have a couple of short times together to talk about what it means to be men of faith. If you have questions or want to help with the overnight, contact Erik (firstname.lastname@example.org).
City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place the evening of Friday, April 26th (7-9:30), and the morning of April 27th (9:30-noon). Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this session, get in touch with Val at email@example.com. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Erik at firstname.lastname@example.org.
