Announcements, 12.28.12

This week’s sermon text: This Sunday David Blanchard will preach on Acts 27:1-44. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon. **YEAR-END GIVING**

Please note that all end-of-year contribution checks need to be in-hand or postmarked by 12/31 (next Monday) to go towards 2012 deductions. Checks with a postmark of 12/31 (or before) will be counted as 2012 giving if they are received no later than January 10th. Online gifts will still need to be made by 12/31 (some credit cards take 3-5 business to process, so please take that into consideration). Thank you for your cooperation on this. Please contact Valerie Catrow ( with questions.

No Children’s Worship: As this is the fifth Sunday of the month, Children’s Worship will not take place during that service. We encourage parents to worship with their children and to see it as an opportunity to teach them about the service. (Nursery care will still be available for ages 0 through 3.)

Mercy Fund: As this is the last Sunday of the month, we will take up a special mercy fund offering. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.

Uganda Mission Trip Interest Meeting: After church on Sunday, January 6th, we will have an informal interest meeting regarding a potential mission trip to Living Hope in Uganda. Jake Lyell, City Church member who lives and works in Uganda, will be there. Contact Matt Rawls (

City Church Gleaning Ministry: Do you have repairs needed around the house, landscaping work that needs to be done, or other small jobs? If you are willing to pay for this work, City Church is working to set up opportunities for folks in our community who would be blessed by the extra income that these jobs could provide. (If you recall, this concept is described as “gleaning” in the book of Ruth.) Please contact Brandon Lowe at if you have work that needs to be done or if you have questions.

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place the evening of Friday, January 11th, and the morning of Saturday, January 12th. Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this session, get in touch with Val at If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Erik at
