Friday Night Dinner: We are organizing another Friday night potluck in various homes throughout Richmond on November 16th. This is a casual dinner open to all people – members, visitors, neighbors, etc. – and will provide a chance for us to get to know new people within our community. The host of each home will provide the main dish and each attendee (up to 12 per house) can bring a side of their choosing to share with the group. Bless Richmond: On Sunday, November 18th at 6pm, Christians from dozens of congregations in Richmond will gather to give thanks to Jesus, pray for Richmond, and feed the hungry. This event will take place at U-Turn Sports Performance Academy (2101 Maywill Street Richmond); please bring canned food donations to benefit the Central Virginia Foodbank. Register for Early Childhood Seminar: Registration is now open for "Early Childhood: The Apprenticeship of Being Human". Graham Scharf will join us to lead two 45-minute talks. The first presentation will focus on love, language, and literature as keys to producing character in children. The second will focus on the topic of story and its role in shaping virtue. He will cover both theory and practice, talking about the importance of early childhood, while also emphasizing grace. The seminar will take place on Saturday, December 8th from 8:45 to noon at All Saints Reformed Presbyterian Church (3000 Grove Avenue). CommonGoodRVA: CommonGoodRVA is a two-day conference focused on helping Christians exercise vocational stewardship for the common good of Richmond. During this conference we'll explore what it means to see our everyday work as a meaningful part of our Christian calling. The conference will take place on Friday, January 18th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, January 19th (9am to 3pm) at The Early Center at Union Presbyterian Seminary. The registration fee is $40 for the month of November; it will increase to $55 on December 1st. There are 200 spots available and it is expected to sell out, so please register as soon as you can! Update on Tucker Sibiga: On Monday, November 26th, Baby Tucker will be transferred from the NICU at Henrico Doctors Hospital up to Boston Children’s Hospital to continue his care. It’s expected that Ellie and Tommy will be up there with him for a couple months. City Church is collecting gift cards for food, gas, and groceries to lighten their financial load during this time. If you have a gift card you’d like to contribute, please pass them along to Caley Crawford or leave them in the offering basket.
