Fall Cookout for VCU International Students: We will host a cookout for VCU's International Students on Saturday, October 6th from 4-7pm at the home of Huey and Alice Lee. Volunteers are needed to come to the cookout and spend time with the international students; provide side dishes; and provide rides for the students from Beth Ahabah out to the Lees' home. Walking tour of the Fan! Join us on Sunday at 2:30pm on the front steps of Beth Ahabah to go for a walk and discuss the habits that our built environment encourages. This tour will serve as this week's meeting of our Fall Christian Formation Class, but all are welcome to attend!

Overcoming Richmond's Racial Divide: Standing Together to End Poverty: On Tuesday, October 9, at 7pm the Richmond Peace Education Center (RPEC) will sponsor a public forum featuring presentations from civic leaders including David Hicks, Duron Chavis, Sookyung Oh, and Thad Williamson who will examine a variety of strategies for tackling poverty and building a more economically and racially just community and region. The forum is timed to coincide with the anticipated fall release of the report from the Mayor’s Anti-Poverty Commission. It is free and open to the public and it will be held at First Unitarian Universalist Church on 1000 Blanton Avenue. Downtown lunch: Our next Downtown Lunch will take place on Thursday, October 18th from 12pm to 1pm. We will do a ‘bring your own’ lunch and meet in the conference room of Riverfront Investment Group located at 1214 E. Cary Street. Erik will speak for 5 to 10 minutes after which we’ll share a meal and a conversation around the table.
Goochland Young Life 5k: Help support Goochland Young Life by taking part in the Goochland Young Life 5k on Saturday, October 20th at 9am at Goochland High School (3250 River Road West, Goochland, VA 23063).
