This week's sermon text: Erik will preach on Acts 15:36-16:10 on Sunday. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon. *NEW*
Prayer for the Uganda team: Everyone is invited to join us right after Sunday's service for a time of prayer for the Uganda team as they prepare to leave for their trip next week. Also, if you're interested in offering the team financial support as they work to meet their final goal, you can do so via a check sent to City Church at P.O. Box 5583 Richmond, VA 23220 or visit the giving page on the City Church website. When sending a check, please include “Uganda trip” in the memo line–and be sure to indicate if you’d like to contribute to the general Uganda trip fund or to support a specific team member.
Support for the Sibiga Family: As we shared last week, Ellie and Tommy Sibiga welcomed their baby boy, Joseph “Tucker”, on Friday, July 13th. Tucker was born at just under 26 weeks and weighed in at 1 pound, 10 ounces. He’s expected to spend the new few months in the NICU at Henrico Doctors Hospital, and we're in the process of coordinating care for the Sibiga family so they have additional support during this time. If you're interested in caring for Ellie, Tommy, and Tucker in this way, please contact Caley Crawford (email@example.com). You can also keep up-to-date on Tucker via Tommy and Ellie's blog--just click on the tab labeled 'Tucker'.
Mercy Fund on Sunday: As this is the last Sunday of the month, we will be taking contributions to our Mercy Fund. The Mercy Fund is kept separate from our regular budget and is used to provide financial support to members of our congregation and community who are in need. Please prayerfully consider what you might be willing to contribute.
No Children's Worship on Sunday: There will be no Children's Worship this Sunday as it is the fifth Sunday of the month. We encourage parents to worship with their children and to see it as an opportunity to teach them about the service. (Nursery care will still be available for ages 0 through 3.)
City Church Forum on the History of Beth Ahabah: On Wednesday, August 1st from 7:30pm to 9pm, Russ Finer, executive director of Beth Ahabah, will lead a discussion on the history of Beth Ahabah, the synagogue that so graciously hosts our services each week. We will meet in the Beth Ahabah Chapel.
Summer Supper Series: Our next Summer Supper will be on Wedesnday, August 8th, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Humphrey Caulder Park (414 N. Thompson Street). We will provide the main dish; you just need to bring a side or a dessert. There's a large playground and areas to play baksetball and volleyball, so bring sporting equipment of you've got it! Also a heads up regarding parking: the parking lot will be unavailable until 6pm due to another event, but there will be plenty of parking on the street. Please contact Caley Crawford (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions.
Youth Mentorship Update: The Mercy & Justice team has put together an encouraging update about City Church’s growing involvement with youth mentorship in the Richmond area. Read it here–and be sure to note the contact information at the bottom of the post if you’re interested in getting involved!
Meals for the Vaughans: Rosalie Clark Vaughan was born on July 10th at 3:02pm, weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces. We will be providing meals for Amanda and Bo for a few weeks as they adjust to life at home with little Rosalie. If you’re interested in helping out, visit takethemameal.com to sign up. The last name is ‘Vaughan’ and the password is ‘Vaughan). If you have questions, please contact Kristin Nuckols at email@example.com.
