Uganda Missions Trip: As announced during our worship service on Sunday, City Church is planning a missions trip to Uganda for August 2012. The team will be visiting and supporting the work at Living Hope Uganda (, a private Christian primary school with which City Church member, Jake Lyell, has been working closely. We are particularly looking for women who are interested in being a part of the trip. If you have questions or want more information, please contact James Murphy (

Dowtown Lunch -- January 19th: Our next Downtown Lunch will be on Thursday, January 19th from noon to 1pm. We will do a ‘bring your own’ lunch at a new location: Macaulay & Burtch, P.C., 1015 E. Main Street. Erik will share for 5 to 10 minutes after which we’ll share a meal and a conversation around the table. (We will be back at the Riverfront Investment Group on February 16th.)

Childcare workers needed for Mothers Together: Mother's Together, a women's bible study that meets on Thursday mornings and is attended by several women from City Church, is looking for more childcare workers to watch the little ones while we meet! Childcare workers work from 9:15-11:45am on Thursday mornings, and the positions are paid. Please contact Katie Pitcher if you're interested: 616.403.2975 or

CARITAS: We have a unique opportunity to serve the homeless of Richmond coming up starting on January 28th. As part of the CARITAS ministry, Bethlehem Lutheran -- located one block from Beth Ahabah -- will be sheltering homeless men from around Richmond through February 3rd.  Volunteers (especially men) would be needed to stay overnight and extend hospitality to those coming to the shelter. We may also have an opportunity to help provide a meal during this week. For more information, contact James Eggleston at or sign up to help at


Congregational Meeting –- January 15th: We will hold a congregational meeting immediately following January 15th’s service to elect Deacons. All are invited to attend, although only members will be allowed to vote at the meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Erik ( Childcare will be provided during the meeting.

January 22nd Service: Due to a previously scheduled event at Beth Ahabah, we will hold our January 22nd service at our regular time (4pm) at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Grace Covenant is located just a few blocks up from Beth Ahabah at 1627 Monument Avenue. There is a parking lot with limited spaces located directly behind Grace Covenant, but street parking is also available. We will still hold Children’s Worship and provide nursery care during this service.

Loaves & Fishes – January 15th: Our next opportunity to serve the homeless community through Loaves & Fishes will be on Sunday, January 15th. Loaves and Fishes is a practical way for us as a church community to demonstrate Christ’s love to those in need of a meal in our city. We do this at the Conrad Center (1400 Oliver Hill Way) on the third Sunday of every month from 11am-2pm. If you have any questions, please contact Ingrid deRoo at

Friday Night Supper – January 20th: Are you looking for ways to meet or get to know different people at City Church? Join us for a casual potluck dinner at various homes around Richmond on Friday, January 20th. The host of each home will provide the main dish and each attendee (up to 12) can bring a side of their choosing. Baby Shower for Eniko Rumrill - January 21st: Save the date for a baby shower to welcome the Rumrill baby on Saturday, January 21st at 10am. The shower will be held at Kristen McGee’s home. Please RSVP to Lindsey Stack at

seeJesus RUTH Seminar – January 21st & 22nd: West End Presbyterian Church (9008 Quioccasin Road) is hosting a RUTH Seminar on Friday, January 20th (6:15-9pm) and Saturday, January 21st (beginning at 8:30am). Paul Miller will lead this seminar focused on how Ruth’s story teaches us about the covenantal, binding love of God. The cost is $34 and includes materials and continental breakfast.
