Loaves & Fishes -- THIS SUNDAY Our next opportunity to serve at Loves & Fishes is this Sunday, November 20th. We will meet at the Conrad Center (1400 Oliver Hill Way) from 11am to 2pm to prepare and serve a meal. If you're interested in helping out, please email Stefan Kling at stefanmkling [at] or Lara Kling at laragateskling [at]

Jesse Tree Project & Ornament Swap (Advent activity) A Jesse Tree Project (taken from Isaiah 11:1) is a four week survey of God's work (from creation to Christ), looking at one person or event in the Old Testament each day that points to Jesus. During Advent, a short devotion is read each day and a corresponding ornament is hung on a tree as a reminder of that person or event in the Bible.

If you’re interested in starting a Jesse Tree tradition with you family, we would love for you to join our Jesse Tree Ornament Swap. Click the link below for specifics (and contact Jennifer Murphy at jennifer [at] with questions):

Mercy Fund — November 27th On November 27th (the last Sunday of the month) we will be taking contributions to our Mercy Fund. The Mercy Fund is kept separate from our regular budget and is used to provide financial support to members of our congregation and community who are in need. Please prayerfully consider what you might be willing to contribute.

STEP Pride for Parents Christmas Store STEP (Strategies to Elevate People) will hold it’s 21st annual STEP Pride for Parents Christmas Store on Saturday, December 3rd at Eternity Church (1900 Chamberlayne Avenue). We hope to have a small group from City Church volunteer at the event itself, greeting children and parents from Gilpin Court. If you are willing to donate a new, unwrapped gift for STEP’s Christmas Store, please bring it to church on November 20th or 27th and leave it in the designated box at the front of the church. Email Lauren Massey at lbmassey [at] if you're interested in volunteering.
