Welcome to the world, Baby Shay! Elliot Lewis Shay was born on October 6th at 5:19pm, weighing in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces. We will be coordinating meals for Aubree and Patrick as they adjust to life at home with Elliot over the next few weeks. Apple Picking at Carter Mountain -- October 22nd Everyone is invited to join us for a trip up to Carter Mountain in Charlottesville for a morning/afternoon of picking apples (and picking out pumpkins)! We're planning to meet in the parking lot of Martin’s in Carytown at 9am on Saturday, October 22nd to caravan/car pool, but that meeting place is subject to change -- we'll keep you updated. To learn more about Carter Mountain, stop by their website: Vespers -- October 23rd All are welcome to take part in our monthly Vespers meeting on Sunday, October 23rd in the fellowship hall of Beth Ahabah (just downstairs from the sanctuary) immediately following our regular service. This is a time for us to share a meal and talk more about the vision of City Church. Please bring a dish to share. Remember: no pork or shellfish products are allowed in Beth Ahabah.

City Church Forum 2 -- October 27th Our next installment of our City Church Forum will take place on Thursday, October 27th from 7:30 to 9pm at the Joel House at Beth Ahabah (1123 W. Franklin Street). Amy Julia Becker will be speaking about her book, A Good and Perfect Gift: Faith, Expectations, and a Little Girl Named Penny, a 'momoir' reflecting on Amy Julia's life as the mother of a daughter born with Down Syndrome and grace she has received from the experience.

Roommate Needed! Stephen Griggs (mid-20s, teacher at The Carmel school, and musician who recently helped out with music at City Church) is moving from Ashland to Richmond within the next few weeks to get more involved with fellowship here, and he is in search of a roommate. Serve a shift, bring a friend! –  Loaves & Fishes – Sunday, October 16th If you’d like to help out at the next session of Loaves and Fishes scheduled for Sunday, October 16th, please put your name down for a shift on our electronic sign-up sheet found at (Spots may be limited depending on the shift). Loaves and Fishes is a practical way for us as a church community to demonstrate Christ’s love to those in need of a meal in our city. Church-Based Community Development Training (CCDA): October 29th, 9am-4pm Noel Castellanos, CEO of the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) will be facilitating a training on how to love our under-resourced neighbors and neighborhoods through church-based community development ministry. Love Your Kids Seminar – November 5th West End Presbyterian Church (9008 Quioccasin Road) will be hosting a one-day seminar for parents of young children (0-12 years). “Love Your Kids” is designed to grow in you the heart of God toward your children. Tickets are $25/couple for WEPC attendees; $65/couple outside of WEPC. Visit to learn more and to register. City Church Forum 3 -- December 1st The final City Church Forum of the fall will feature Katie Nienow on Thursday, December 1st. Katie is the Director of Development for Hope International, a micro finance ministry, where she has worked for the last five years. Katie will speak on the topic of ‘Your Money and Your Heart’–a particularly relevant subject for consideration during the holiday rush of spending and consumption. The forum will meet from 7:30 to 9pm at the Joel House at Beth Ahabah.
