*NEW* Prayer -- Thursday Please join members of City Church’s leadership and staff to pray for City Church on Thursday, September 15th from 7-8am at the church office (1520 W. Main Street, Suite 105).

Diaconal Training City Church will hold its first session of diaconal training this Sunday, September 18th from 7pm to 9pm at the church office (1520 W. Main Street suite 105). Everyone in church is invited to participate in the diaconal training. We are asking that all who decide to be a part of the training commit to all 7 sessions and commit to doing the required reading and homework. If you are planning on attending the diaconal training class, please let Val (val [at] know as soon as possible so that we can plan accordingly and distribute the necessary materials. (Please note: all remaining classes will take place on Sunday mornings from 9-11am.)

City Capernaum Ministry Meeting -- September 19th We'll be having a prayer and informational meeting for those interested in learning more about City Capernaum Ministry on Monday, September 19th at 8pm at the Bonkovskys' (21 N. Granby Street). City Capernaum Ministry gives young people with mental and physical disabilities the chance to experience fun and adventure, to develop fulfilling friendships, and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem through club, camp, and other exciting activities. City Capernaum volunteers model Christ’s unconditional love and acceptance as they walk alongside these young adults — filling their lives with love and support. All are welcome!

International Student Follow-Up & Volunteer Form If you're interested in taking part in our outreach efforts towards VCU's International students, please make sure click on the link below to fill out a volunteer form with the Global Education office. Romania Reborn Concert -- October 1st Join us on Saturday, October 1st at 7:30pm at the Domeneches' home (1908 Grove Avenue) for a house concert in honor of the work of Romania Reborn (, an organization serving the needs of abandoned children in Romania since 1998. Loaves & Fishes -- September 18th (Volunteers still needed!) Our next opportunity to serve a meal at Loaves & Fishes will be on Sunday, September 18th. We'll be meeting at the Conrad Center (1400 Oliver Hill Way) from 11am until around 2pm. We are in particular need of volunteers to help out during the 12:15-2 part of the meal (serving the meal and cleaning up). If you're interested in helping, please contact Erik at erik [at]

Women’s Retreat — September 17th & 18th The ladies of City Church will be heading out to Ann Douglas Enghauser family’s cabin in Cumberland County (about 50 miles outside of Richmond) on the morning of Saturday, September 17th and returning to Richmond at around noon that Sunday. Loves Your Kids Seminar -- November 5th West End Presbyterian Church will be hosting a one-day seminar for parents of young children (0-12 years). "Love Your Kids" is designed to grow in you the heart of God toward your children. During the seminar you will learn to: find the imbalances of involvement and discipline and correct them, say “Yes” generously, but say “No” gently but firmly, work together with your spouse as a team, and trust God’s love for you as you face the ups and downs of family life. Transformational Truth with Dr. Douglas Stuart -- November 5th Needle's Eye Ministries and Crestwood Presbyterian Church will be hosting an interactive seminar with Dr. Douglas Stuart, author of How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth and How to Read the Bible Book by Book. The seminar will take place from 8:30am to 3pm at West End Assembly of God (401 N. Parham Road). Tickets are $25 (includes continental breakfast and lunch). Save the Date: City Church Harvest Party -- November 19th (This is a change!) City Church will have our annual Harvest Party on Saturday, November 19th (rescheduled from November 5th). Time and location are TBD, but we are aiming for late afternoon. Stay tuned!
