*NEW* Mercy and Justice Roundtables Have you been wanting to learn more about the mercy and justice efforts of City Church? Are you interested in serving others and building relationships with the vulnerable and often marginalized in our City? Come to our upcoming Mercy and Justice Roundtables on Sunday, January 30th from 5:45 to 7:00 after church. We'll eat a meal together while discussing some of the relief efforts, development work, and broader justice initiatives we're participating in. (Need more information? City Church Particularization Service, 1/23 On Sunday, January 23rd, City Church will hold its particularization service as part of our normal worship service at 4 PM. During this service we will ordain elders, install Erik as pastor, and formally become a church in the PCA. After the service we will have a reception at the Stonewall Jackson Professional Building (1520 W. Main St., at the corner with Lombardy St). Please plan on being a part of this exciting moment in the life of City Church. If you can help with the reception, please contact Jennifer Walker (jennifer.p.walker [at] gmail.com). Move to Beth Ahabah (updated info!) City Church will be moving its Sunday afternoon worship service to Beth Ahabah Synagogue (1117 W. Franklin St.) beginning in February 2011. While the current building has served us well for the last 4 1/2 years, the bigger space at Beth Ahabah will allow us to welcome more people to worship and to serve our children and our community better. If you have questions about this transitions, please feel free to contact Andrew Bleckley (ableckley [at] gmail.com) or Erik (erik [at] citychurchrva.com).
City Church Basics, 2/11 & 2/12 The next session of City Church Basics is scheduled for February 11th and 12th. Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Contact Erik (erik [@] citychurchrva.com) with questions and for more info.
