*NEW* RISC 2009 Annual Assembly, Monday 10/26 at 6:30pm City Church will be participating for the second year with RISC in their efforts to bring about positive changes in the greater Richmond community.  RISC serves as a catalyst for congregations of varying faith and denomination to work together, having impacted the areas of education, justice, and health care, etc.  The RISC Annual Assembly offers each person in attendance from member congregations (of which City Church is one) to vote as to what issues will be addressed in the 2009/2010 cycle (proposed new issues are housing, transportation, and education).  Each person in attendance will count as one vote, so the more we bring out, the stronger our voice will be.  The meeting will be held at Crusade for Christ (1700 W. Loaves & Fishes, Sunday 10/18 at 11am Our monthly opportunity to serve at Loaves & Fishes will take place on Sunday, October 18th. We will be meeting at 11am at the Conrad Center (1400 Oliver Hill Way) to prepare and serve a meal. Volunteers should plan on staying until about 2pm. City Church Basics, 11/20 & 11/21 Erik will be offering another City Church Basics session on Friday, November 20th and Saturday, November 21st. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. Fall Festival at Gilpin Court, 10/31 STEP is in need of volunteers and donations to help out at their annual Fall Festival celebration put on for the kids of Gilpin Court on October 31st. Volunteers are needed for games, but they are also in need of donated candy. Advent Hymn Sing led by Alex Mejia, 12/4, 7pm Alex and his band will lead us in singing Advent and Christmas hymns in a service that will also features Scripture lessons. This will take place at 822 W. Franklin Street (the building where we have our regular church service). Prayer Life Conference, 1/23, 9am-4pm Paul Miller will be leading this conference at West End Presbyterian Church in the West End. More details to follow.
