<p><strong>Prayer &#8212; TOMORROW</strong>:  Please join members of City Church’s  leadership and staff to pray for City Church on Thursday, February 2nd  from 7-8am at the church office (1520 W. Main Street, Suite 105).</p>
<p><strong>Spring Christian Formation Class begins on Sunday</strong>: Our first Spring 2012 Christian Formation Class, <em>Genesis: God and Man, How it All Began</em>,  will have its first meeting this Sunday immediately after church in the  Joel House at Beth Ahabah. We plan to be finished by 6:20 in time for  the Super Bowl. If you have any questions, please contact John Bourgeois  at john@citychurchrva.com.</p>
<p><strong>Downtown Lunch: </strong>Our  next Downtown Lunch will take place on Thursday, February 16th from  12-1pm. We will do a ‘bring your own’ lunch and meet in the conference  room of Riverfront Investment Group located at 1214 E. Cary Street. Erik  will share for 5 to 10 minutes after which we’ll share a meal and a  conversation  around the table.</p>
<p><strong>Save the Date</strong>:  We are planning on having a women&#8217;s get-together on the evening of  Wendesday, February 29th. More details to follow, but go ahead and mark  your calendars!</p>
<p><strong>City Groups</strong>:  City Groups are smaller groups that meet at various times in people’s  homes each week to experience Christ, share life, pray together and  serve Richmond. If you&#8217;re interested in joining a City Group (or  learning more about them in general), please contact John Bourgeois at john@citychurchrva.com.</p>

<p><strong>Deacond Ordination &amp; Reception</strong>:  We will ordain our newly-elected deacons (Andrew Bleckley, David Boyce,  Patrick Shay, and Blake Stack) at this Sunday&#8217;s service. A reception  will be held immediately after  the service downstairs in the fellowship hall. Please bring an  appetizer-type finger food (<strong>no pork, no shellfish</strong>).</p>
<p><strong>Mercy Fund — THIS SUNDAY</strong>:  As this is the last Sunday of the month, we will be taking  contributions to our Mercy Fund. The Mercy Fund is kept separate from  our regular budget and is used to provide financial support to members  of our congregation and community who are in need. Please prayerfully  consider what you might be willing to contribute</p>
<p><strong>2011 Giving Receipts</strong>:  The majority of receipts outlining 2011 giving were emailed out to  individual households last Friday; those for whom we don&#8217;t have an email  address will be mailed this week. If you have questions about your  receipt or need further documentation, please contact Val at  val@citychurchrva.com.</p>

<p><strong>Sunday&#8217;s service:</strong> Due to a previously scheduled event at Beth Ahabah, we will hold this  Sunday&#8217;s service at our regular time (4pm) at Grace Covenant  Presbyterian Church. Grace Covenant is located just a few blocks up from  Beth Ahabah at <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1627+Monument+Avenue&amp;oe=utf-8&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;hnear=1627+Monument+Ave,+Richmond,+Virginia+23220&amp;gl=us&amp;t=m&amp;z=16&amp;vpsrc=0" target="_blank">1627 Monument Avenue</a>.  There is a parking lot with limited spaces located directly behind  Grace Covenant, but street parking is also available. We will still hold  Children’s Worship and provide nursery care during this service.</p>

<p><strong>seeJesus RUTH Seminar – January 21st &amp; 22nd</strong>: West End Presbyterian Church (<a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=9008+quioccasin+road&amp;oe=utf-8&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;hnear=9008+Quioccasin+Rd,+Richmond,+Virginia+23229&amp;gl=us&amp;t=m&amp;z=16&amp;vpsrc=0" target="_blank">9008 Quioccasin Road</a>)  is hosting a RUTH Seminar on Friday, January 20th  (6:15-9pm) and Saturday, January 21st (beginning at 8:30am). Paul Miller  will lead this seminar focused on how Ruth’s story teaches us about the  covenantal, binding love of God. The cost is $34 and includes materials  and continental breakfast. <p><strong>CARITAS</strong>: We have a unique opportunity to serve the  homeless of Richmond coming up starting on January 28th. As part of the  CARITAS ministry, Bethlehem Lutheran — located one block from Beth  Ahabah — will be sheltering homeless men from around Richmond through  February 3rd.  Volunteers (especially men) would be needed to stay  overnight and extend hospitality to those coming to the shelter. We may  also have an opportunity to help provide a meal during this week.
