**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT**

**COMING UP THIS WEEK**

This week’s sermon text: This Sunday Shad Baker will preach on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. We invite you to read ahead to help prepare yourself for this week’s sermon.

Mercy Fund: As this is the last Sunday of the month, we will take up a special mercyfund offering. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.

Childcare Basics: Our next session of Childcare Basics is scheduled for Saturday, January 26th from 9am to 12:30 at the Joel House. This is mandatory for all who volunteer regularly or substitute in Nursery or Children’s Worship. The morning will include training in several areas that will be relevant to the ages of the children you work with. Childcare will be provided. All new volunteers should’ve received an Evite earlier this week, but if you didn’t, please RSVP to Jennifer Murphy (jennifer@citychurchrva.com).

**NEW**

New Saturday City Group: A new City Group will begin on Saturday, February 9th from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Glenn & Laura Nunziata’s home. All are welcome to attend.We will be meeting every other week, and enjoying a meal together once a month. If you have children, bring them! We will hire childcare and share the costs among the parents. While this City Group is family-friendly, we would love to have a diverse group of people attend, so please come whether you are single, married, a parent, or not. Meals for the Marshalls: We are coordinating meals on Saturdays to support Jane and Mabel Marshall. If you’re interested in serving them in this way, visit takethemameal.com. Supplies for Jenn Disse: We will be collecting items to send to Jenn Disse, a City Church member and missionary currently serving in South Sudan. Items needed/requested include: The Jesus Storybook Bible; children’s books set in Africa (new or gently used); markers; pens/pencils; teaching posters; maps; folders; anything teaching about Jesus, the Holy Spirt, and the fruits of the Spirit. Items can be brought to church through Sunday, February 24th. Contact Liz Morton (mcentee.liz@gmail.com) with questions.

**REMINDERS**

Officer Nominations: This Saturday marks the end of our officer nomination period at City Church. All members are invited to prayerfully submit nominations for elder and deacon. Nominations need to be made to Erik or the Session in writing (email is sufficient) and must be received by Saturday, January 26th. If you have questions regarding the office of elder or deacon, please refer to the email that was sent to all members last week, or contact Erik (erik@citychurchrva.com).

Women’s Spring Bible Studies: City Church’s weekly women’s Bible studies will start up again the week of January 28th. You can choose between two study times: Mondays from 7:30-9pm (starting January 28th) or Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30am. Childcare is available for the Wednesday morning study at a cost of $10 per child ($20 maximum per family). Both studies will take place at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church (1627 Monument Avenue).
