PREPARE & CONNECT
This week's sermon: Erik will continue our Advent sermon series ("O Come, O Come, Emmanuel") with a sermon on Isaiah 22:12-25. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare yourself for Sunday's service.
December 21st service: Our service on December 21st will take place at Beth Ahabah, located at 1117 W. Franklin Street, just a few blocks down the street. We will still meet at 4pm and nursery care and Children's Worship will still be available. Lot parking will be limited, so please allow time to find on-street parking.
Christmas Eve services (with corrected info!): We will hold two Christmas Eve services here at Grace Covenant: a family-friendly service at 3:30pm and an 11pm service with lessons, carols, and communion. FYI: Childcare will not be provided at these services.
A note about year-end giving: Please note that all end-of-year contribution checks need to be in-hand or postmarked by December 31st to go towards 2014 deductions. Checks with a postmark of December 31st (or before) will be counted as 2014 giving if they are received no later than January 10th, 2015. Online gifts will still need to be made by December 31st (some credit cards take 3-5 business to process, so please take that into consideration).
City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, January 16th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, January 17th (9:30-noon)at Grace Covenant. City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this next session, please RSVP to Val Catrow (email@example.com). Contact Erik (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions.
Pastor search team: City Church has put together a team of members to help identify a new pastor. That search team is comprised of Susie Austin, Andy and Caley Crawford, Jamie Mock, Brianne Baudean, David Blanchard, and Erik Bonkovsky. If at any point you have any questions or recommendations for the team, please reach out to one of them directly.
Prayer tomorrow: At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer: dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. Please join us tomorrow, December 11th, at 7am to pray for individual needs, City Church, and for the city of Richmond. We’ll be meeting this week at the Church office, 3rd floor at Grace Covenant. Enter in the back entrance of building. Hope to see you there. (City Church prayer takes place every other Thursday.)
Randolph Christmas Caroling: On Saturday, December 13th, at 9:30am, we will visit the Randolph Place Retirement Home to sing Christmas carols and visit with the residents, put together a simple craft to leave with them, and share the love of Christ with them. This will be the fourth year we've visited them at Christmas, and it's always such a great time! We will meet at 9:30 in the Randolph Community Center to warm up our voices and enjoy donuts and coffee together, and will head next door for caroling at 10:00. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Art for Advent reception: Immediately following our service on Sunday, December 14th, we will host a reception in the parlor where the work submitted for Art for Advent will be on display. Please plan on joining us!
Women's holiday happy hours: Bring a friend and join other women from City Church for Holiday Happy Hours from 5:30-7:30pm around town next week. Come to one or come to all!
