PREPARE & CONNECT

This Week’s Sermon: Erik will preach on John 10:1-21 this Sunday. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare yourself for this week’s sermon.

Friday Night Dinner: Our next Friday night dinner is on May 16th, and we want you to join us! This is a casual dinner open to all – members, visitors, neighbors, etc… – that provides a chance for us to get to know new people within our community. Hosts will provide the main dish, and each attendee can bring a side of their choosing to share with the group (up to 10 per house). If you are interested in attending, please RSVP using this form no later than Tuesday, May 13th, and we will be in touch with details.

CCDA National Conference - Raleigh Durham: Each year, the Christian Community Development Association national conference draws more than 2,500 people from around the world to share in best practices of Christian community development (also known as poverty alleviation) and this year it is being held in Raleigh - Durham, September 24th through 27th. If you’re interested in trying to connect with other people from City Church who are interested in going, please contact Blake Stack at blakestack@icloud.com.

SERVE

CARITAS: As part of CARITAS, we will collaberate with Bethlehem Lutheran Church to provide sustenance and temporary shelter to those in need. We’re looking for two city groups or 10 volunteers to make dinner for the homeless and do an overnight stay on Sunday, May 18th or Tuesday, May 20th. Welcome, Baby Berg! Christine and Lanny Berg welcomed a baby girl–Sahalie Rebecca Berg–on April 14th. Sahalie weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 21 inches long. We will provide meals for the Bergs as they adjust to life at home with their new baby. If you’d like to serve them in this way, please visit takethemameal.com to sign up. Welcome, Baby Nicholas! Stephanie and Tom Nicholas welcomed a baby boy–Thomas Jay Nicholas–on April 23rd. Thomas weight 7 pounds, 7.7 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Items for Refugee Family: We will be collecting items for a refugee family that recently arrived in the Richmond area. They are need of clothes and household items–gift cards to purchase food and other necessities would be appreciated as well. Clothing sizes are as follows:

Women’s Clothing Pants: sizes 11 or 12 Shirts: M, L, XL Bras: 42B, 36B Shoes: 7.5, 8

Men’s Clothing Pants: 30 x 30, 36 x 32 Shirts: M, XL Shoes: 8.5, 9.5

Boy’s Clothing Pants: sizes 14 to 16 Shirts: size 12 Shoes: 6.5

Little Boy’s Clothing Any clothes size 5 or 6
