Welcome, Baby Nuckols! Brooke Isabelle Nuckols was born at 6:50pm on Thursday, August 1st weighing in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Rich, Kristin, and Baby Brooke are moving to their new home in North Carolina tomorrow, so please pray for a safe trip and an easy adjustment period. We'll miss you, Nuckols Family!

Welcome, Baby Vaughan! Marshall Lowery Vaughan was born at 11:27am on Monday, August 5th. He was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. We will coordinate meals for Amanda, Bo, and big sister Rosalie as they adjust to life at home with Marshall, so please stay tuned for details on how to sign up.

City Church Fall Kick-Off: All are welcome to join us after the August 25th service for our Fall Kick-Off. We'll meet in the fellowship hall (in the basement at Grace Covenant) to share a meal; following dinner we'll have a brief time where you can learn more about ways to get involved in City Church ministries this fall. Details regarding the meal are still being worked out, but we ask that you plan on bringing something to share--we'll send out specifics soon.

Truth Project Discussion Group: Two City Church members--Jimmy Balta and George Davis--invite you to join them this Fall for a Truth Project Discussion Group. Designed to equip Christians with a comprehensive biblical worldview, the Truth Project utilizes a DVD-based small group discussion format. Each lesson examines a specific area of culture (e.g. Work & Labor, Philosophy & Ethics, History, Science, Theology, Government) through the lens of Scripture. The study will meet on Tuesday evenings, September 10th- December 10th. For more information contact George (davis.g@law.wlu.edu) or Jimmy (jimmybalta@hotmail.com).

REMINDERS

First Things First Marriage Conference: First Things First will help host a two-day marriage conference on August 16th and 17th at the Mechanicsville Christian Center (8061 Shady Grove Road). The conference will feature a presentation from Michael and Amy Smalley entitled “The Suprising Way to a Stronger Marriage.” Tickets are $30 per person ($35 per person after August 2nd). CARITAS: August 17th through 23rd, City Church will partner with Grace Covenant to serve homeless women of Richmond through the CARITAS ministry. Our hope is to provide more than simply food and shelter; we aim to provide a welcome that demonstrates the richness of Christ’s love and grace. Please consider volunteering as an individual, with friends, or as a City Group. Please speak with James Eggleston (eggleston.james@gmail.com) or Zach Radcliff (zrradcliff@gmail.com) for more info.

City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place the evening of Friday, August 23rd (7-9:30), and the morning of August 24th (9:30-noon). Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, although membership is not required. If you’re interested in taking part in this session, get in touch with Val at val@citychurchrva.com. If you have any questions, please contact Erik at erik@citychurchrva.com.
