Jennifer Disse, City Church member and missionary currently serving in Africa, updates us on her current work in Mundri, South Sudan. Dear friends and family,
Greetings from South Sudan! I pray that you are all happy and healthy in your various parts of the globe. The past month has been one of much encouragement and increased boldness for me! (Thanks for your prayers in that!) I got the opportunity to teach at an evangelism training series and speak about our identities as sons and daughters of God. Also, this past month, my students at Kotobi Teacher’s College have started student teaching, so I’ve been able to observe and encourage them in their endeavors. It is such hard work to teach in S. Sudan, where there are few resources but an overabundance of students. Pray that the teachers here can have the energy to truly love and invest in their students. I’ve also had a chance to visit friends in the nearby village of Okari and practice my Arabic. My new friends are all extremely gracious, telling me that I speak excellent Arabic, even when I can only crack out a few words.
Keep the World Harvest South Sudan team in your prayers as we prepare for a week-long vision retreat in mid-November. We will be discussing the future goals of the team and its S. Sudanese partnerships. Pray that God can give me discernment in which areas of ministry to focus and spend my time. Pray that I can give up my agenda and humbly submit to what the Lord wants me to be doing in the Moru community. I am very excited about the ways God is working in Mundri Town and am so grateful that He has chosen me to help in that work. Thank you so much for being a part of that, too—through your continued prayers and support!
The people of Mundri: that they will be encouraged by the Holy Spirit and have their daily needs met.
Education in South Sudan: pray that the government can work with communities to build more quality schools.
Upcoming Revival in Town: an evangelist that I am unfamiliar with is coming to town to hold a revival and perform healings. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be working mightily through this man and all those present.
