Loaves & Fishes, 3/21

Our monthly opportunity to prepare and serve a meal for the hungry will take place on this Sunday, March 21. We will be meeting at the Conrad Center (1400 Oliver Hill Way) from 11am to around 2pm. If you're interested in helping, please email Kira Disse at kmdisse [at] gmail.com.

Hymns for Haiti—A Benefit Concert - Saturday, March 20 at 7pm (doors open at 6pm)

Alex Mejias (and some special guests) will be giving a concert to benefit Compassion International and Partners in Health on Saturday, March 20 at West End Presbyterian Church (9008 Quioccasin Road). 100% of proceeds will benefit the cause. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.  All ages are welcome. Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets will also be sold at WEPC before and after Sunday church services until the show. Apologetics Course, starting March 24

The Richmond Center for Christian Study presents a five-week Apologetics Course (for students and the wider Richmond community) showing how a Biblical worldview is reasonable, reliable and fits reality as nothing else does (Q&A follows each session).  This course is designed to give roots to the faith of Christians, assist seekers in their quest for truth, and gently and respectfully challenge those who hold to competing worldviews.  Wednesday nights, 7:00pm-8:30pm, starting March 24.  VCU Commons Theater (907 Floyd Avenue, Richmond 23284).  The presenter will be Chris Daniel, Executive Director of the Richmond Center for Christian Study.  $25 for course (free for VCU students and staff).  For registration and further info, goto http://richmondstudycenter.org

Maymont Elementary - Adopt A Classroom

We have been in touch with Maymont Elementary (located in the Randolph neigborhood, near City Church) this spring to better understand some of their needs. They have again requested help with their dwindling classroom supplies and have given a list of items needed. With a tight budget, supplies for kids are hard to come by. If you and/or your small group would have interest adopting a classroom please contact Jesse Caleb (calebjk2 [at] gmail.com or 804-387-1134). The deadline for donating supplies in April 4.

RISC Justice Ministry (now with more info)

RISC is a justice ministry partnership among congregations in Richmond that City Church has participated in over the last two years. We are looking for 2-3 people who might be interested in leading City Church's involvement moving forward. RISC has 2 upcoming events that could serve as an introduction to the ministry: 1) RISC Rally on Monday, March 22, 7pm, (basically a pep rally building momentum for, 2) Nehemiah Action on Thursday, April 22, 7pm, (1000+ people advocating for justice in the city of Richmond). STEP intern needed

STEP (Strategies to Elevate People) is a Christian ministry which exists to provide solutions to the issues of urban poverty in Richmond. STEP is seeking out a college-aged intern to help organize and lead various summer programs geared toward enabling, enriching, and ministering to our local Richmond communities.
